Application · Anti-theft

Know when cattle go missing, and where they went.

Solar GPS collars with an anti-tamper design and anti-removal detection. 4G models keep reporting wherever there is cell coverage. Built for South Africa and other regions where stock theft is a daily risk.

Built for high-theft regions

  • Every collar logs a GPS position at every reporting interval
  • Removal and tamper status is checked every 5–30 minutes, as you configure it
  • 4G collars keep reporting after animals leave the farm
  • Solar powered, so collars never go dark waiting for a charge

How it works

  1. 01

    Collar the herd

Fit solar GPS collars with anti-tamper construction to the animals you need to protect.

  2. 02

    Regular check-ins

Each collar checks its status and reports its position at a configurable interval of 5 to 30 minutes.

  3. 03

    Alert at the next check

If a collar is removed or tampered with, the alert is sent at the next check, together with the last known position.

  4. 04

    Follow the trail

4G collars keep reporting over the cellular network, so you can follow animals beyond the farm.

What you get

Anti-removal detection

Collar removal is detected and reported at the next scheduled check.

Anti-tamper design

Anti-tamper construction on every Herdwize collar model.

4G beyond the farm

GC08 and GC09 report over 4G, with no gateway needed and no gap at the farm boundary.

1–2.5 m on the GC09

The GC09 positions to 1–2.5 m, with reporting every 1, 5, 10 or 30 minutes.

Solar, 5-year life

A built-in solar panel and 5-year service life mean no charging rounds.

One map for the herd

Every animal's last reported position on one map, alongside temperature and activity.

An alert in your pocket at first light

Removal alerts and last known positions arrive on the phone, with the trail for 4G collars.

Recommended collars

For theft protection beyond the farm, choose the 4G GC09 (South Africa build) or GC08. LoRa collars protect animals within range of your Herdwize gateway.

Good to know

  • Alerts are not instant: a removal is reported at the next check, every 5 to 30 minutes depending on your setting.
  • LoRa collars report within about 5 km of a gateway. To follow animals beyond the farm, choose 4G models.
  • Shorter check intervals mean faster alerts. Plan the interval with your Herdwize partner.

Frequently asked questions

Does removing a collar trigger an alert immediately?
No. Each collar checks its status at a configurable interval of 5 to 30 minutes, and the alert is sent at the next check, together with the last known position. Shorter intervals give faster alerts.
Can I track stolen animals off the farm?
With 4G collars (GC08, GC09), yes: they report over the cellular network wherever there is coverage. LoRa collars report only within range of a Herdwize gateway, about 5 km in open terrain.
Which collar is best for South Africa?
The GC09 is the regional 4G build for South Africa, with 1–2.5 m GPS, configurable reporting and temperature measurement.
Do the collars need charging?
No regular charging. Herdwize collars are solar powered with a 5-year service life.
